Clementon man sentenced to 30 years for Maple Shade apartment killing

Mount Holly, NJ – A 25-year-old man from Clementon has been sentenced to three decades in state prison for the fatal shooting of a Maple Shade resident outside his apartment in 2022.

Teon Macklin-Goodwine was ordered to serve the full 30-year sentence without parole eligibility after a Burlington County jury convicted him in July on felony murder and multiple weapons charges. Judge Mark P. Tarantino handed down the sentence on August 29 in Superior Court.

The case stemmed from a January 16, 2022 shooting at the Fox Meadow apartment complex. Responding officers found 32-year-old Ezekiel Sanders Jr. wounded on Gardenia Drive. He was rushed to Jefferson Hospital in Cherry Hill, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators determined Macklin-Goodwine and an accomplice, Gregory Berry of Glassboro, had targeted Sanders in a planned robbery. Berry previously pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter under a deal with prosecutors and faces a recommended 17-year term at sentencing.

The investigation was led by detectives from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and Maple Shade Police Department, with assistance from Glassboro Police.
