CLEVELAND, O.H. — A Cleveland man was found guilty of multiple charges, including murder, for his role in a shooting that left a 3-year-old boy dead and injured another victim, prosecutors announced.
Juan Davis, 35, was convicted on February 11, 2025, of two counts of murder, six counts of felonious assault, three counts of attempted murder, one count of involuntary manslaughter, and one count of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.
According to prosecutors, the shooting occurred on September 28, 2023, following an argument outside a duplex near West 66th Street and Denison Avenue. After the dispute, Davis, along with Devonte Parker, 30, and Jayden Sorensen, now 18, drove to a nearby street before Parker and Sorensen exited the vehicle armed with a handgun and a rifle. The two men opened fire toward a parked car where a 22-year-old woman, a 3-year-old child, and an 11-month-old infant were seated. At least five gunshots struck the vehicle, including one that fatally wounded 3-year-old Luis Diaz.
Authorities revealed that Davis remained in the vehicle during the shooting and later fled the scene with Parker and Sorensen. The case also involved a prior criminal matter in which the 22-year-old woman was the sole witness against Davis.
Davis was convicted after a trial before Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Shannon Gallagher.
