Columbus police searching for suspect in downtown bus stop stabbing

COLUMBUS, OH – Detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a downtown stabbing earlier this month.

The victim, suffering from multiple stab wounds, arrived at Grant Hospital as a walk-in on the morning of October 7.

He told officers he was attacked around 5 a.m. while waiting at the E. Main Street and S. High Street bus stop.

Police say the suspect, whose image was released on social media, fled the scene before officers arrived.

Victim hospitalized after early-morning assault

Responding officers found the man with serious injuries consistent with a knife attack. The victim was treated at Grant Hospital, though police have not released his current condition. Investigators have not confirmed whether the victim and suspect knew each other before the incident.

Detectives seeking community assistance

Authorities continue to gather surveillance footage and witness statements in the area of E. Main and S. High streets, one of the city’s busiest transit corridors.

Police are asking anyone who was near the intersection that morning to come forward with any additional information.
