Cumberland County Launches Cumberland ROCKS Initiative for Youth

BRIDGETON, NJ – The Indian Avenue School in Bridgeton recently celebrated the “Cumberland ROCKS!” event, a new initiative aimed at promoting social-emotional learning among children and youth throughout Cumberland County. Held on March 14, the event saw students engaging in creative activities to express what they cherish about their community.

“Cumberland ROCKS!” seeks to boost children’s awareness of the positive aspects of living in Cumberland County, encouraging them to become community caretakers and ambassadors. Through painting rocks with scenes, hobbies, or figures they consider community ‘gems’, participants highlight the beauty of their environment, from nature to sports and beyond.

The initiative underscores the importance of community pride and environmental stewardship among the younger population. The artwork created during these events is displayed at participating schools, offering a visual testament to the area’s appeal.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office extends an invitation to groups interested in participating in the “Cumberland ROCKS!” initiative. For more information or to share your creative contributions, contact Public Safety Reform Strategist Tracy Swan at TracySw@CumberlandCountyNJ.gov. Community members are also encouraged to share their rock paintings on social media using the hashtag #CCROCKS to further spread the positive message about life in Cumberland County.
