Cumberland Police Respond to Theft and Trespassing Incidents

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department addressed two separate incidents of theft and trespassing on Wednesday. The first occurred on Queen City Drive, where a male suspect was reported to have stolen items from a business.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that the suspect had concealed items in his clothing and exited the store without making any payment. The police located the suspect nearby and detained him. The individual, identified as 34-year-old Rick Lindsley Michel from Cumberland, MD, received a criminal citation for theft under $100 and was released pending a District Court trial.

In a separate incident on the same day, police responded to a trespassing complaint at a business located in the 200 block of Greene Street. Security personnel had requested a male subject leave the premises, but he initially refused. Following police intervention, the individual agreed to leave the property but was instructed not to return.

However, shortly afterward, police were summoned back as the man had re-entered the establishment. As a result, 60-year-old Michael Wayne Bergman of Cumberland, MD, was arrested for trespassing on private property. He was issued a criminal citation and released,
