Teen Arrested in Violent Armed Robbery in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC – A teenager has been arrested following a terrifying armed robbery incident in Northeast DC.

On October 9, at approximately 6:58 p.m., the victim parked his vehicle and walked toward a restaurant in the 1600 block of Benning Road, NE. As he walked, three suspects approached him, with one displaying a handgun and demanding his property, including his vehicle keys. The victim complied, and the suspects fled the scene in his vehicle.

Later that evening, Sixth District officers spotted the stolen vehicle occupied by multiple individuals in the 4900 block of Nannie Hellen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast. One suspect was arrested, and two firearms were recovered.

A 16-year-old male from Northwest, D.C., has been charged with Armed Robbery (Gun), Theft One (Stolen Auto), Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text their tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.
