DC Police Arrest Suspect in Southeast Church Burglary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Police have arrested a man suspected of breaking into a church in Southeast Washington, the Metropolitan Police Department announced. The arrest took place on October 27 after an employee spotted intruders inside the building during off-hours.

The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. in the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast. Police report that officers responded swiftly to the scene, arresting one suspect, identified as 29-year-old George Amond Shank, who has no fixed address. Shank has been charged with Burglary Two.

A second suspect managed to escape before officers arrived and remains at large. Authorities have not released any information about the identity or description of the suspect who fled.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to locate the second individual involved. The Metropolitan Police Department is encouraging anyone with information about this incident to reach out.
