Daily Incident Report: DUI Arrests and Vehicle Crimes in Stafford County

STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported several incidents on Thursday, including two DUI arrests and multiple vehicle-related crimes.

In the early hours of Thursday, a 54-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence on Richmond Highway near Boswell’s Corner. Deputy K.W. Suter observed the man’s silver Ford Fusion failing to maintain its lane and passing through a solid red traffic signal. The driver was charged with DUI, drinking while driving, driving on a suspended license, failure to maintain the traffic lane, and a red light violation. After his arrest, the magistrate released the suspect on an unsecured bond to a sober party.

Later that evening, at approximately 9:18 p.m., Deputy Suter responded to an auto accident at the intersection of Widewater Road and Telegraph Road. A black Toyota Tacoma had crossed the center dividing lines and sideswiped a marked Marine Corps Police cruiser. The driver of the Toyota, a 41-year-old woman, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI and refusal to submit to testing. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until she was sober.

The Sheriff’s Office also reported two hit-and-run incidents on Thursday. The first occurred at Anthony Burns Elementary School, where a resident discovered their vehicle had been damaged while parked and unoccupied in the school lot on August 19. In the second incident, a driver reported being rear-ended by a black Infiniti SUV on Garrisonville Road near Stafford Market Place. The other driver fled the scene by making a U-turn and heading westbound on Garrisonville Road.

In addition to these incidents, a vehicle theft was reported on Mickelson Lane. A resident reported her car stolen from her driveway overnight. The vehicle was later found abandoned and damaged on Norman Road.

Authorities continue to investigate these incidents and urge residents to report any suspicious activity.
