Dark Furred ‘Suspect’ With Yellow Eyes and Sharp Claws Found Loitering at Belleville Police Headquarters

BELLEVILLE, N.J. — Belleville police are asking residents to help identify a “suspicious individual” discovered lingering in the department’s parking lot, though this suspect comes with whiskers, paws and a strong demand for treats.

In a lighthearted social media post Thursday, the Belleville Police Department shared photos of a black cat found on department property and appealed to the public to help reunite the feline with its owner.

Police Issue Playful ‘BOLO’ for Cat

According to the department, the cat was found loitering in the police parking lot and was unable—or unwilling—to provide identification.

Officers jokingly reported that the suspect offered no explanation for its presence, refused to answer questions and immediately demanded treats.

The department described the cat as:

  • Small in size
  • Black fur
  • Bright yellow eyes
  • Extremely cute
  • Possibly armed with sharp claws

While the post was clearly made in fun, police are actively attempting to locate the cat’s owner.

Department Hopes to Reunite Feline With Family

Belleville police joked that they hope to return the cat before it becomes an official member of the department.

“We believe this cat belongs to someone and are trying to reunite it with its owner before it gets sworn in and assigned a patrol vehicle,” the department wrote.
