A pursuit through New Castle ended with two arrests after suspects fled on foot from a stolen vehicle and were tracked down by troopers and aviation units.
New Castle, DE – Two individuals were arrested Wednesday night after Delaware State Police pursued a stolen vehicle and apprehended both suspects following separate foot chases, authorities said.
Troopers identified the driver as Paige Patterson, 31, of Bear, Delaware. A 52-year-old man from Newark, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also taken into custody.
The incident began around 8:00 p.m. when a trooper on patrol spotted a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander on Memorial Drive near North Dupont Parkway. After initially stopping, the driver fled, prompting a pursuit.
Foot chase and aviation unit lead to arrests
Police said the vehicle turned onto Irwin Avenue and stopped at a dead end, where both occupants exited and ran.

Troopers quickly apprehended Patterson after a brief foot chase. Authorities said she showed signs of impairment, and it was later determined her driver’s license was suspended.
The passenger fled over a backyard fence, leading to a search involving the Delaware State Police Aviation Section. He was located in a nearby wooded area and taken into custody without further incident.
Driver charged, investigation continues
Both suspects were transported to Troop 2. Police said Patterson continued to show signs of impairment, and a search warrant was obtained for her blood.
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $5,600 secured bond.
Authorities did not immediately release the identity or charges of the second suspect.
