WILMINGTON, Del. — The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a bank customer who was attacked while attempting to make a deposit outside a PNC Bank in Wilmington.
Troopers responded at approximately 9:45 p.m. Sunday to the PNC Bank located at 2203 Kirkwood Highway after receiving reports of a robbery.
According to investigators, the victim was preparing to make a bank deposit when an unidentified suspect approached and attacked.
Suspect fled with cash after struggle
Police said the suspect assaulted the victim and demanded money before the two became involved in a brief struggle.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was preparing to make a deposit when an unknown suspect approached, assaulted the victim, and demanded money,” Delaware State Police said. “After a brief struggle, the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.”
The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation. Detectives have not released a description of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
