DNA identifies homicide victim found in Stamford house

Stamford man found dead in home was murdered, police say

Stamford, CT – A man found dead inside a Stamford residence earlier this month was the victim of a homicide, authorities confirmed Wednesday following the release of autopsy results.

The body of Carmine Boccuzzi, 79, was discovered at a home on Oaklawn Avenue after Stamford Police responded to the scene and secured the residence for processing by the Connecticut State Police. Investigators initially withheld the identity of the deceased pending a DNA comparison with a family member.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completed an autopsy and determined Boccuzzi died from “blunt impact injuries of the head and torso with gagging.” His death has been officially ruled a homicide.

Police have not yet released details about any suspects or motives, and it is not clear how long Boccuzzi had been deceased before his body was discovered. Authorities have also not stated whether there were signs of forced entry or a struggle inside the home at 263 Oaklawn Avenue.

The Stamford Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Sean Boeger at 203-977-4421.

This marks one of the city’s most serious ongoing investigations in recent months. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon.
