Stafford man arrested for public intoxication at crash scene

STAFFORD, VA — A man who attempted to intervene at an active crash investigation late Wednesday night was arrested after deputies determined he was intoxicated and uncooperative.

Deputy K. F. Shifflett was assisting with a vehicle accident on Providence Street around 11:09 p.m. on January 29 when a male subject began attempting to speak with involved parties. The deputy noted the man had glassy eyes, unsteady footing, and a strong odor of alcohol.

The man was asked several times to go inside and refrain from interfering with the scene. He refused and remained outside in what deputies described as a clearly intoxicated state.
