Early Report: Three Pedestrians Struck at Jackson Township Intersection Friday, Child Among Injured

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three people, including a child, were injured Friday after a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at the intersection of Manhattan Street and Beam Avenue, sending all three victims to a nearby hospital and prompting an ongoing investigation into what led to the collision. At this time it is not known whether the injuries were all pedestrians or if they included the drivers as police have not yet released any information on the incident.

The crash happened Friday, May 1, when emergency crews responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck at the intersection. First responders found three victims at the scene — one woman, one man, and a child — all requiring medical attention. The incident happened outside the gates of the Jackson Youth Football and Cheer’s Friday Night Lights flag football games.

EMTs treated the injured individuals on-site before transporting them to a local hospital. Officials have not released details about the severity of their injuries, and their current conditions remain unknown.

Manhattan Street has been a point of contention for local residents as the 30 mph road serves as a cut through connecting South Cooksbridge Road to Bennetts Mills Road. In the past residents have lodged complaints about speeding through the residential neighborhood.

Information has not yet been confirmed by police.
