NEW YORK, NY – A 76-year-old woman was found dead inside her Lower East Side apartment Friday night after a 911 call reported an unconscious person at 18 Monroe Street. Officers arrived around 7:55 p.m. and discovered the woman unresponsive with visible injuries to her head and body. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death. Police have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. The woman’s identity is being withheld until her family has been notified.
