A collision involving a car and an electric scooter left a Clinton man dead as investigators work to determine what happened
Clinton, MD — A 43-year-old electric scooter rider was killed Monday night after a collision with a vehicle on Old Branch Avenue in Prince George’s County, according to police.
The victim was identified as Scott Tippett of Clinton.
Officers responded at approximately 10:25 p.m. Monday to the 8100 block of Old Branch Avenue following reports of a crash involving a car and an electric scooter.
Tippett suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries, although authorities said those injuries were not considered life-threatening.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department’s preliminary investigation, both Tippett and the driver were traveling in the same direction on Old Branch Avenue when the collision occurred near the intersection of Manor Road.
Investigators have not said what caused the crash and noted the circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation.
