Man sentenced to 60 years for first-degree murder in 2021 shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Eric Davis, 61, of Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for the July 2021 shooting of Theodore “Bino” Riley in the Kingman Park neighborhood. U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela A. Smith made the announcement.

Davis was found guilty of first-degree murder while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence by a Superior Court jury on May 2, 2024. The trial took place before Judge Michael O’Keefe.

Evidence presented at the trial revealed that on July 19, 2021, at approximately 7:33 p.m., Davis was recorded on surveillance walking with Riley to an alley near 1608 Gales Street Northeast. Once in the alley, Davis shot Riley in the head and then fled, attempting to change his appearance by donning a long-sleeved shirt over his short-sleeved shirt. Riley was discovered face-down in the alley with a single .45 caliber casing at his feet. Davis was arrested on September 22, 2021.
