Fatal Traffic Incident Claims Bicyclist’s Life on I-295

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A tragic traffic accident on Interstate 295 has resulted in the death of a 26-year-old bicyclist, Edwin R. Morales-Martinez, from Hyattsville, MD. The D.C. Metro Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

The accident occurred early Sunday morning. Morales-Martinez was biking southbound near the River Terrace exit when he was hit by a southbound Mazda sedan. The Mazda driver remained at the scene, contacted emergency services, and attempted to provide assistance until DC Fire and Emergency Services arrived.

Despite efforts to save him, Morales-Martinez was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The police are urging anyone with information regarding this tragic event to come forward and contact them directly.
