BALTIMORE, MD — A father and son are behind bars after allegedly breaking into a woman’s home during a heated dispute and shooting her in East Baltimore last October, according to authorities.
The shooting happened on October 13 at approximately 7:46 p.m. in the 4300 block of Sheldon Avenue. Police found the 28-year-old victim inside her home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her lower body. She was rushed to a hospital, where detectives later learned the altercation started with an argument between the victim and her neighbor, 22-year-old Travis Braxton.
The victim told police the dispute escalated when she threw a brick at Travis’ front door, shattering the glass. She returned to her home but soon heard loud noises and kicking at her door. Police said Travis broke into the home through the door while his father, 44-year-old Larry Braxton, entered through a shattered window. Investigators allege Larry then pulled a gun and shot the woman as she tried to run upstairs. Both men fled the scene after the shooting.
Evidence discovered during a search of Travis’ residence included suspected heroin, live 9mm ammunition, and two empty 9mm handgun magazines. Travis was arrested on October 28 and reportedly admitted to arguing with the victim, breaking her front window, and kicking in her door. He also identified Larry as the shooter. Larry, who is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions, was apprehended on January 7.
Both Travis and Larry Braxton are being held without bail as they await trial on attempted murder charges.
