Fire Destroys House and Barn in Chester County

WEST NANTMEAL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A large barn and house fire on Isabella Road prompted a multi-county emergency response Friday night, according to officials. The Twin Valley Fire Department was initially dispatched to the scene around 9:18 p.m. after multiple reports of visible flames.

Chester County’s 911 Center received calls from witnesses reporting tall flames and the possibility of both a barn and a house on fire. Upon arrival, Chief 69 (Hornberger) confirmed that both structures were fully engulfed and assumed command of the incident. Early concerns about potential entrapment were alleviated when it was determined that the homeowners were accounted for.

Due to the size of the fire, Chief 69 requested additional units through a “Working Fire Dispatch” and later escalated the response to a second alarm, bringing in units from Chester, Berks, Lancaster, and Montgomery counties. Fire suppression efforts were initiated immediately, and mutual aid units were given specific assignments as they arrived.

EMS units, including Ambulance 89, Medic 193, and MICU 244, provided rehabilitation services for firefighters at the scene. No injuries were reported.

The fire was declared under control at 12:36 a.m., though crews continued working through the night. The incident was scaled back in the early morning hours, with Ambulance 89 clearing the scene at 5:21 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
