MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Firefighters rushed into action Tuesday night after a reported large open burn in a residential yard escalated into a dangerous fire involving an outdoor dog kennel in the Roosevelt City section of the township.
Station 33 was dispatched to the scene at about 9:40 p.m., where crews encountered an active fire threatening animals inside the kennel, according to officials.
Upon arrival, Captain 3330 confirmed the structure was burning and immediately moved to rescue the animals. One dog was removed from the kennel before suppression efforts began, while a second dog was pulled to safety during the initial knockdown of the fire.
Firefighters from Station 33 then extinguished the remaining flames, preventing further spread and securing the area. The scene was stabilized within a short time of arrival.

After the fire was brought under control, the incident was turned over to the Manchester Township Police Department and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation into the cause.
No injuries were reported to firefighters, homeowners, or the animals involved, officials said.
