HARRISBURG, PA — Antoinette Hodge, a former City of Uniontown Treasurer, has been sentenced to 21 to 120 months in prison for embezzling more than $106,000 in taxpayer funds, which she used primarily for gambling.
Hodge, who was convicted last month by a Fayette County jury, faced charges including theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received. In addition to her prison sentence, she has been ordered to pay $106,750 in restitution to Uniontown, as well as cover the city’s audit costs.
Attorney General Michelle Henry emphasized the betrayal of public trust, stating, “The defendant has now been held accountable for dishonoring her position of public trust by deceiving taxpayers and stealing funds meant for the city of Uniontown. Our investigation showed that she, on many days, spent hundreds of dollars of taxpayers’ money on lottery games.”
Hodge, elected in 2019, was responsible for collecting and depositing cash and checks received by the tax office. However, testimony during the trial revealed she failed to deposit over $106,000 in cash collected between 2020 and 2021.
The charges resulted from an investigation by the 48th Investigating Grand Jury and were prosecuted by the Office of Attorney General.
