Delaware State Police are searching for the gunman after four people were shot outside a Waffle House during a large gathering early Saturday morning.

NEWARK, Del. – Four people were injured in a shooting outside a Waffle House in Newark early Saturday after gunfire erupted during a large gathering in the restaurant’s parking lot, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 12:10 a.m. to the Waffle House at 1450 Pulaski Highway, where they found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A fourth victim later arrived at a nearby hospital in a private vehicle

Four victims hospitalized

Police identified the victims as a 20-year-old man from New Castle, a 19-year-old man from Bear, an 18-year-old woman from Wilmington, and a 17-year-old girl from New Castle.

The three victims found at the scene were transported by emergency crews to an area hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. The 17-year-old later arrived at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Gunfire erupted during large gathering

According to investigators, a large crowd had gathered in the Waffle House parking lot when one or more unidentified suspects opened fire.

Authorities said the shooter, or shooters, fled the area before troopers arrived. No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not released a description of any suspects.

Investigation continues

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the investigation.
