Gun-wielding thief robs woman inside Brooklyn apartment building then flees on moped

BROOKLYN, NY – Police are searching for a suspect who followed a young woman into a Brooklyn apartment building and robbed her at gunpoint in broad daylight, before fleeing the scene on a moped.

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, near 58th Street and 7th Avenue. Investigators say the 19-year-old victim was entering a residential building when the man followed her inside, displayed a firearm, and made verbal threats while pressing the weapon against her stomach.

The suspect then took the woman’s purse, cellphone, and other personal belongings before escaping on a moped, heading north on 7th Avenue.

Police release appeal for public assistance

Detectives with NYPD Crime Stoppers are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the robbery to call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Spanish speakers can reach 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). No injuries were reported, and police are reviewing security footage from the area. The investigation remains ongoing.
