Man shot dead in Southeast DC as gunman remains on the loose

Washington, DC — A man was found shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene in Southeast D.C. Wednesday night, setting off a homicide investigation as police search for the person responsible.

The shooting was reported around 7:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of Pitts Place Southeast. Responding officers located the victim unconscious and not breathing. Despite their response, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives were called in to process the scene, gather evidence, and speak with potential witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police have not released the identity of the victim and have not provided any description of a suspect. No arrests have been made.
