Hagerstown, MD — Two lottery players scored a combined $206,581 in winnings across consecutive days in Hagerstown, including a $50,000 Powerball prize and a $156,581 FAST PLAY jackpot, according to the Maryland Lottery.
The larger win came from a Pennsylvania woman who claimed a $156,581 progressive jackpot on a $5 FAST PLAY Cash Combination ticket purchased at ROCS convenience store on Maugans Avenue. She and her husband collected the prize April 20 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
Two wins, one small city
Just a day later, another lucky ticket sold less than 10 miles away delivered a $50,000 Powerball prize. That ticket was purchased at Martin’s Food on Dual Highway and matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball in the April 20 drawing.
The winning numbers for that drawing were 9, 17, 36, 47, 64, with a Powerball of 26.
While no one hit the jackpot, the Maryland Lottery reported that 7,453 players statewide won smaller prizes ranging from $4 to $100 in the same drawing.
Where the tickets were sold
Both winning tickets were sold in Washington County, highlighting a rare cluster of significant wins in the same area over a short period.
The FAST PLAY jackpot winner traveled from nearby Waynesboro, Pennsylvania — just across the state line — to purchase her ticket. The ROCS store where she bought it sits about 10 miles from the Martin’s Food location that sold the Powerball-winning ticket.

How the prizes were won
The FAST PLAY game offers progressive jackpots that increase with ticket sales until someone wins. In this case, the $5 Cash Combination ticket delivered a six-figure payout when the woman’s ticket hit the top prize.
Powerball, by contrast, is a multi-state draw game with fixed prize tiers. The $50,000 prize falls into the third tier, awarded for matching four white balls plus the Powerball.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, with drawings held three times a week — Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights.
Jackpot continues to climb
Because no ticket matched all six numbers in the April 20 drawing, the Powerball jackpot continues to grow. The Maryland Lottery said the next drawing on April 22 will feature an estimated $100 million annuity jackpot, with a cash option of $45.6 million.
Powerball is played across 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, offering nine prize tiers ranging from small payouts to multimillion-dollar jackpots.
What comes next
Both recent winners have already secured their prizes, but the spotlight now shifts to upcoming drawings and whether the region’s streak of luck continues.
For now, Hagerstown stands out as the site of back-to-back lottery wins, with two tickets sold within miles of each other producing more than $200,000 in total payouts in just two days.
