Wilkes-Barre, PA – A Hazleton man was arrested after allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s residence and assaulting her during a domestic incident late Thursday night, according to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 9:45 p.m. on January 30 to a residence on Maffett Street after Luzerne County 911 received a call during which loud yelling could be heard in the background.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 24-year-old woman, with visible injuries to her head and face. She told police that the defendant, identified as Joshua Jorge, 30, arrived at her home intoxicated and asked to stay the night due to cold temperatures. The victim reportedly refused, telling officers that Jorge “becomes aggressive when drinking.”

The victim stated that Jorge then forced open the front door, damaging the frame and trim, and assaulted her when she attempted to block his entry. When she told him police were being called, Jorge fled the scene.

Police later located him at a business on Blackman Street, where he was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and arraignment.
