Wilkes-Barre home invasion leaves shattered windows and shaken residents
Wilkes-Barre, PA – A terrifying home invasion on Butler Street in the early hours of Friday left two women hiding in a bathroom while intruders shattered windows and damaged doors attempting to gain entry, according to police.
Wilkes-Barre City Police were dispatched at approximately 2:25 a.m. on January 31 for a report of an active break-in. The 911 caller told dispatchers that she and her sibling were sheltering in the upstairs bathroom as the chaos unfolded.
Responding officers arrived to find visible signs of forced entry. A front window was shattered, damage was found along the side of the house, and the rear door had been heavily damaged with its upper window completely destroyed.
Officers conducted a full sweep of the residence and located the two victims unharmed but visibly shaken on the second floor. No suspects were located inside.
According to statements from the victims, they heard the sounds of glass breaking and multiple female voices shouting outside the home but did not see anyone enter.
Investigators recovered several items believed to have been used during the attempted break-in. The investigation remains active.
