Holmdel Police Warn Residents to Avoid Multiple Roads After Severe Storm Downs Trees, Power Lines

Police urged motorists to avoid several roads across Holmdel Township Friday night as crews worked to clear storm damage and restore power following severe thunderstorms.

Holmdel, NJ – Holmdel Township Police are warning residents to avoid unnecessary travel after severe thunderstorms left numerous roads blocked by fallen trees, downed power lines, and disabled traffic signals Friday evening.

According to the Holmdel Township Police Department, Public Works crews are actively clearing debris while Jersey Central Power & Light works to restore electricity to affected neighborhoods.

The department advised motorists to use caution if travel is necessary and to avoid several roads and intersections impacted by storm damage.

Multiple roads closed by storm damage

Police identified the following locations as areas motorists should avoid:

  • Crawfords Corner Road and Red Hill Road
  • Georjean Drive
  • Middletown Road and Stillwell Road
  • Stoney Brook Road
  • Laurel Avenue and Continental Boulevard
  • Indian Creek Road
  • Stillwell Road
  • Northview Terrace
  • Tulip Lane

Officials said numerous power lines remain down, traffic lights are out, and hazardous conditions continue throughout portions of the township.

Residents asked to report outages directly to JCP&L

Holmdel police encouraged residents experiencing power outages to report them directly to Jersey Central Power & Light by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (888-544-4877) or through the utility’s online outage reporting system.

The advisory comes as utility crews continue responding to widespread outages and storm damage across Monmouth County following Friday night’s severe weather.
