JACKSON, N.J. — Ocean County residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of personal documents in Jackson Township on Saturday, June 7, as part of the county’s 2025 Residential Document Shredding Program.
The free shredding event will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or until the shredding truck is full at 95 West Veterans Highway, according to a flyer from the Ocean County Board of Commissioners and the Department of Solid Waste Management.
The shredding program is open to all Ocean County residents and is for paper documents only. Materials containing sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers or bank account details, are accepted, but each participant is limited to four file boxes of paper. Reusable containers are welcome, but black plastic bags are prohibited.
“All documents [will be] destroyed confidentially on-site,” the county states in the flyer. Participants must remain in their vehicles, where workers will remove the documents directly for shredding.
The county warns that batteries, electronics, books, junk mail, greeting cards, photos, X-rays, and CDs are not permitted and could pose safety hazards. Loads containing such items may be rejected.

Jackson’s event is one of six scheduled for the spring season. Other locations include Lakewood, Berkeley, Stafford, Waretown, and Point Pleasant Boro. The program resumes in the fall with events in Manchester, Lacey, Toms River, Brick, Little Egg Harbor, and Beachwood.
