LEONIA, NJ – A Leonia area man who met a woman online said she drugged him, then he woke up robbed and beaten with no recollection of what happened.
Leonia Police said that at approximately 11:00 am on June 27, 2021, the department received a call for medical assistance at a residence on the 400 block of Grand Avenue.
“A male in his 30’s was found with numerous injuries and no memory of what had occurred,” police said. ” The male victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Further investigation of the incident revealed that the victim had met his assailant online.”
The suspect was identified as Katherine Berg, of Paterson.
The victim said during the early morning hours of June 26, 2021, Berg arrived at the victim’s residence. It is believed that she gave him an unknown substance that caused the victim to become incapacitated.
Her accomplices, Emin Goroveci, of Succasunna and an unidentified third unknown male then arrived at the victim’s residence.
“Numerous items were stolen from the residence, including a 2011 Honda Pilot. Berg, Goroveci and the unknown male left the residence in the stolen Honda,” Police said.
On June 27, 2021, at approximately 11:00 am, the victim was found by a family member with numerous injuries. The victim had been incapacitated for over 24 hours before he was located and given medical treatment.
On July 3, 2021, Paterson Police Department reported that they had located the stolen vehicle being driven by Goroveci. Berg was a passenger in the vehicle at the time and both subjects were arrested on charges related to the stolen vehicle.
On July 5, 2021, Berg and GoroveciI were transferred to the custody of Leonia Police Detectives Michael Jennings and Maria Perez, who are the lead case investigators.
