The department’s newest four-legged ambassadors made a public appearance during the ninth week of the Citizens Police Academy.

Gloucester Township, NJ – Two new puppies training to become community resource K-9 ambassadors made another public appearance during a recent session of the Gloucester Township Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy.

The puppies, Otto and Bruno, were introduced during the academy’s ninth week as part of their early training and socialization with the community.

Puppies begin community training

Officials said Otto and Bruno are beginning their journey as future community resource K-9s.

Under the guidance of retired Major John Hunt, the puppies are being gradually introduced to the public as part of their training, socialization, and community engagement efforts.

The appearances help prepare the dogs for their future roles as ambassadors for the police department.

Citizens Police Academy hosts multiple speakers

Participants in the Citizens Police Academy also heard presentations from several community service programs during the session.

Lt. Jason Fretz of the Community Services Division’s Juvenile Family Services Bureau and social worker Trisha Buck spoke to attendees about resources available through the department.

Representatives from the Domestic Violence Response Team, Addiction Services Project SAVE, and Volunteers of America also addressed the group.
