K9 stop in Prince Frederick leads to arrest

Prince Frederick, MD — A traffic stop at a busy intersection in Calvert County led to a drug-related arrest after a K9 unit alerted officers to suspected narcotics inside a vehicle.

The stop occurred April 12 near Main Street and Vianney Lane when Cpl. Plant pulled over a vehicle for a moving violation.

During the investigation, M/DFC Idol and his K9 partner Benji responded to assist. The K9 conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of controlled dangerous substances.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of three metal push rods, according to authorities. Officers also searched a passenger, where they located two glass smoking devices containing suspected cocaine residue.

Kevin Andre Alleyne, 33, of Prince Frederick, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.

He has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
