TOMS RIVER, NJ – Two weeks ago, Toms River Mayor Maurice “Mo” Hill claimed Capodagli, Inc., the builder he sold a prime piece of real estate in Downtown Toms River to, for just $1 is lowering their 10-story twin tower apartment building to just six stories.
Hill announced the plan at the home of attorney Robert C. Shea, who is also the attorney for the developer building the towers. Shea hosted a fundraiser for Mo Hill at his waterfront home in Toms River two weeks ago that included builders, developers, engineers, and other professionals.
Hill made it clear that the developer would have to come before the township for approvals to change their major site plan on the ten-story twin tower project. As of Wednesday, no such application has been submitted to the township for official approval
A search of township records and public notices came up empty. There are no scheduled hearings for the alleged reengineering of the project.
“Mo Hill can say whatever he wants before an election, but people aren’t buying his lies,” Rodrick said today. “As it stands now, the developer only has the approval to build two ten-story apartment towers.”
Shea, who is representing Capodagli, said the project will cost an estimated $68 million. The project is expected to take between 18 and 24 months to complete.
