Local Pennsylvania market sells two million dollar ticket

Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball ticket worth $2 million sold in Berks County

Middletown, PA – A routine lottery purchase in Berks County turned into a multimillion-dollar moment after a Powerball ticket matched all five white balls in Wednesday night’s drawing, delivering a $2 million win tied to a local grocery store.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced that a Powerball ticket with Power Play sold at Redner’s Warehouse Markets, located at 1179 Ben Franklin Highway West in Amity Township, matched the five white balls drawn — 27, 29, 30, 37, and 58. Because the ticket included the $1 Power Play option, the prize doubled from $1 million to $2 million, before applicable withholding.

The Berks County retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Lottery officials said winners are not identified until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated.

Powerball winners in Pennsylvania have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. Tickets purchased at a retail location should be signed immediately on the back. Online winnings are credited automatically once the claim process is complete.

In addition to the top prize winner, more than 16,000 other Powerball tickets sold across Pennsylvania won prizes in the same drawing. That total included more than 3,900 tickets purchased with Power Play and more than 2,700 tickets purchased with Double Play.

The Powerball jackpot rolled over to an estimated annuity value of $102 million, or $46.1 million cash, for the next drawing on Saturday.

Pennsylvania Lottery officials noted that ticket purchases support programs benefiting older Pennsylvanians statewide.
