Long-shot ticket turns into $62K payday

Germantown man hits $62K Racetrax jackpot on $4.80 superfecta bet

Gaithersburg, MD – A Germantown man turned a $4.80 Racetrax bet into a $62,576 payday after taking a high-odds tip from a friend and playing a boxed superfecta on long-shot horses 9 through 12.

The win occurred on Nov. 7 at My Dollar & More, located at 250 North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. The player, an engineer by profession, placed a 10-cent superfecta box bet, covering every possible order in which horses 9, 10, 11, and 12 could finish in the top four positions.

That day, the race concluded with horses 12, 9, 10, and 11 crossing the finish line in that exact order, triggering the boxed bet payout.

The total cost of the wager — $4.80 — was small compared to the five-figure prize he ultimately claimed. The Maryland Lottery confirmed the win, adding that My Dollar & More will receive a $625 bonus for selling a ticket worth more than $10,000.

The player said he learned about the long-odds strategy from a friend who had previously claimed to win big using the same horse combination. After years of passing on the suggestion, he finally decided to try it — with immediate success.

He later discovered the win while checking his ticket results on the Maryland Lottery app. In his claim, he noted that he intends to use a portion of the prize money to help those in need.
