North Fort Myers, FL — A woman was found dead with multiple lacerations and puncture wounds inside a home Thursday, and deputies quickly arrested a suspect who fled into nearby woods, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. The killing, reported around 4:49 p.m. on Shelby Lane, is being investigated as a domestic-related homicide.
Responding deputies arrived at the 16000 block of Shelby Lane and discovered the victim unresponsive. Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect tracked down after fleeing in van
Investigators say the suspect fled the area in a white work van immediately after the incident. K9 units later located him in a wooded area nearby, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities identified the suspect as 44-year-old Alain Wilfredo Samon Cuadra. He has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Lee County Jail.
Evidence points to domestic connection
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported seeing the suspect with the victim shortly before and during the incident. Preliminary findings indicate the two knew each other and lived together.
