Driver found dead in truck on New Jersey street in early morning incident

HACKENSACK, NJ — A man was found dead inside a truck early Friday morning in what police say appears to be a self-inflicted shooting.

Officers responded around 6:36 a.m. on March 27 to the area of Lodi Street and McKinley Street for a reported medical emergency involving the driver of a large truck.

When officers arrived, they located a 55-year-old man inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates the man suffered what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

Officials said the official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing and notification of next of kin is pending.
