Man found shot to death inside vehicle in Columbia prompts investigation

COLUMBIA, MD — A deadly shooting in Columbia is under investigation after a man was discovered fatally shot inside a vehicle late Tuesday night on Helen Dorsey Way.

Howard County Police responded to the 6000 block of Helen Dorsey Way around 8:30 p.m. for a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, officers found the victim in the driver’s seat of a parked car with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are still working to determine the time of the shooting and have not released the victim’s identity. Police have indicated that the shooting does not appear to be a random act.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case to call 911 as the investigation continues.
