59-year-old victim killed in late-night shooting
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 59-year-old man was found fatally shot on a Northwest DC street Tuesday night, and homicide detectives are searching for the person responsible.
The Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded at approximately 10:48 p.m. Aug. 4 to the 800 block of R Street, Northwest DC, after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS personnel responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene after determining there were no signs consistent with life.
Police identified the victim as 59-year-old Robert Eugene Bland Jr. of Northwest DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the shooting as a homicide.
