Man shot and killed in Southeast DC late Tuesday night identified as Lowell Trueheart

Washington, DC — A man was gunned down late Tuesday night in Southeast DC, and police have now identified the victim as 40-year-old Lowell Trueheart, marking the latest homicide under investigation in the District.

Sixth District officers responded to reports of gunfire around 10:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Minnesota Avenue SE. When they arrived, they found Trueheart lying on the ground, unconscious and unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS personnel attempted to assist, but quickly determined that the victim showed no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made, and police have not released any details about a possible suspect or motive. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are leading the investigation and are asking for help from the public.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
