Rio Grande Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Motel Shooting Wounds Victim
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 25-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the face Friday afternoon after a confrontation outside a motel in Rio Grande, leading to the arrest of a local man now charged with attempted murder, authorities said.
Officers responded around 12:56 p.m. Friday to the Simpson Motel in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township after reports of a shooting, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Emergency responders transported the man to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Atlantic City campus for treatment.
Investigators said the shooting happened shortly after the victim arrived at the motel.
Suspect Arrested Hours After Motel Shooting
Authorities identified the accused shooter as 43-year-old Adam Radomski of Rio Grande.
An investigation led by the Middle Township Police Department Major Crimes Unit, alongside the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, determined that Radomski confronted the victim before the shooting occurred.
Police located Radomski a short time later elsewhere in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township and took him into custody without incident.
Investigators said officers recovered a handgun, multiple firearm accessories and parts, along with other weapons connected to the case.

Prosecutors File Multiple Weapons Charges
Radomski now faces several serious charges, including first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault.
According to prosecutors, the charges include:
- Criminal Attempt (Murder) – First-degree crime
- Aggravated Assault – Second-degree crime
- Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose – Second-degree crime
- Unlawful Possession of a Weapon – Second-degree crime
- Prohibited Weapons and Devices – Three counts involving third- and fourth-degree crimes
- Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons – Third-degree crime
- Refusal to Allow Biological Sample to be Drawn – Fourth-degree crime
Authorities lodged Radomski at the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.
Under New Jersey law, a conviction for a first-degree crime can carry a prison sentence ranging from 10 to 20 years.
Authorities Say No Ongoing Threat to Public
Prosecutor Sutherland said investigators do not believe the shooting poses any continuing danger to the public, though the investigation remains active.
The Simpson Motel sits along a busy commercial corridor in Rio Grande, an area that sees steady traffic from residents and shore visitors traveling through Cape May County.
Officials have not publicly disclosed what led to the confrontation between Radomski and the victim or whether the two men knew each other before the shooting.
