Man wanted for murder captured after two years on the run 

Allegheny County Police arrested a homicide suspect Thursday evening in Trafford after locating him inside a Westmoreland County residence.

Trafford, PA – A homicide suspect wanted for more than two years in connection with a deadly double shooting in Braddock has been taken into custody, according to Allegheny County Police. Darien Wallace, 20, was arrested Thursday evening after authorities received information he was staying at a residence in Trafford.

Wallace was originally charged on April 4, 2024, with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and illegal possession of a firearm in connection with a double shooting in Braddock. Authorities said 16-year-old Jeramyah Pollard was killed in the incident, while another teenager suffered injuries.

Investigators have been searching for Wallace since charges were filed following the shooting.

SWAT team surrounded Trafford residence

Detectives received information that Wallace was inside a home in the 500 block of West Inwood Road in Trafford. Members of the Allegheny County Police SWAT Team responded and established a perimeter around the residence.

Authorities said Wallace attempted to flee the area at approximately 6:30 p.m. but was taken into custody without incident.

Weapons recovered during arrest

During the operation, detectives recovered an AR-style pistol, ammunition, and multiple magazines from inside the residence. Police have not announced whether additional charges related to the recovered firearm will be filed.

The investigation into the recovered weapons remains ongoing.

Multiple agencies assisted in capture

County Police credited several law enforcement agencies for assisting in the apprehension. Officials thanked the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, Pittsburgh Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Trafford Police Department, Pitcairn Police Department, and North Huntingdon Police Department.

Wallace is expected to be transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he will remain pending a preliminary arraignment.
