Maryland man shot dead on sheriff road in northeast dc

Police are offering up to $25K for information.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Maryland man was fatally shot early Saturday on Sheriff Road in Northeast DC, and the Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25K for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Sixth District officers responded at approximately 1:22 a.m. Saturday to the 5100 block of Sheriff Road in Northeast DC after receiving a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious adult man suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, but despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead.

Police identified the victim as Earl Levi Pinkney Jr., 48, of Capitol Heights, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the shooting as a homicide.
