Maryland relatives stunned by $100K scratch off win

Baltimore family duo unwraps $100K lottery surprise months after Christmas

BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore pair who exchange scratch-off tickets as gifts for each other got the surprise of their lives when a holiday-themed lottery game delivered a $100,000 jackpot months after Christmas had passed.

The relatives, longtime Maryland Lottery players, claimed the top prize Monday after winning on a Silver Bell Bucks scratch-off ticket purchased during a quick stop for cold drinks.

The winning moment happened at Crestlyn Mart on Crestlyn Road in Baltimore.

One of the winners said the holiday-themed ticket immediately stood out while choosing games for the other family member.

“She’s big into Christmas, so I knew she would love it,” the player told Maryland Lottery officials.

The pair said they have a longtime tradition of buying scratch-offs for each other rather than themselves.

“I pick out hers, she picks out mine,” they explained.

Although the duo frequently won smaller prizes over the years, nothing prepared them for the moment they uncovered the $100,000 top prize inside their car after leaving the store.

“We just stared at it. No words. I don’t even think we were breathing,” the winners said.

After processing the shock, the pair finally realized the massive win was real.

Lottery officials said the Silver Bell Bucks scratch-off launched during the 2025 holiday season and still has one remaining $100,000 top prize available statewide, along with multiple $10,000 prizes.

Crestlyn Mart, located at 3838 Crestlyn Road, received a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
