Maryland woman uncovers $50K surprise after second look at scratch-off ticket

TEMPLE HILLS, MD – A Prince George’s County woman thought her scratch-off ticket was a dud—until she gave it another look and uncovered a $50,000 win hidden behind a 10X multiplier.

The federal employee initially scanned her Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition ticket using the Maryland Lottery app after only scratching the prize check area. When the app responded with “Go to Lottery,” she grew suspicious. Her confusion grew when she tried to enter the ticket into her My Lottery Rewards account and was unable to, a sign the ticket was indeed a winner.

Not convinced, she picked up a coin and started scratching the ticket manually from the beginning, checking every space carefully. That’s when she spotted a four-corner win worth $5,000—followed by a 10X multiplier, boosting her total prize to a staggering $50,000.

The winner claimed the prize on January 8 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore and said she plans to pay off her car and save the remainder. She purchased the lucky ticket at Kim Liquors, located at 3223 Brinkley Road in Temple Hills.

Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition launched in February with five top prizes of $500,000. According to the Maryland Lottery, three top prizes remain unclaimed. The woman’s prize marks the third $50,000 win in the game, with four more still out there, along with thousands of smaller prizes ranging from $20 to $10,000.
