Milford woman killed in three-vehicle crash on Sussex Highway in Laurel

LAUREL, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a deadly three-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a Milford woman Saturday evening at the intersection of Sussex Highway and Mount Zion Road.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 6:25 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado attempted to cross Sussex Highway from the crossover and pulled directly into the path of a southbound Infiniti QX60. The front of the Infiniti struck the passenger side of the Silverado, while a Ford Escape traveling behind the Infiniti then rear-ended it.

A passenger in the third-row seat of the Infiniti, identified as 43-year-old Latisha Horsey of Milford, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. She died the following day, February 8.

The driver of the Infiniti, a 38-year-old woman from Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, along with three male passengers from Arizona, Delaware, and Texas, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The 60-year-old Laurel man driving the Ford Escape also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

Chevrolet driver and children uninjured

The 39-year-old man operating the Chevrolet Silverado and his two child passengers, all from Millsboro, escaped injury, police said.

State Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and no charges have been announced at this time.
