STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A tense investigation involving a missing infant and mother ended with relief in Stafford County after sheriff’s officials confirmed both were found safe and healthy and no criminal charges will be filed.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that detectives located the infant’s mother following an around-the-clock investigation that drew widespread attention across the community.
Officials said investigators worked closely with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney before determining no charges would be filed in connection with the incident.
Authorities did not release the identities of the mother or child and said no additional details would be made public in order to protect their privacy.
