New Jersey Ends State of Emergency

August 13, 2024

TRENTON, NJ – Governor Phil Murphy concluded the State of Emergency that was declared last Friday. The emergency, prompted by severe weather conditions, was formally ended with the signing of Executive Order No. 365. This action came into effect across all 21 counties in New Jersey at 5:00 p.m. last Sunday.

The State of Emergency was initially instituted through Executive Order No. 364. This swift measure by Governor Murphy aimed to mobilize state resources effectively to address the impacts of the severe weather. The conclusion of the emergency status reflects the stabilization of conditions throughout the state.

Residents and local governments had been under heightened alert since the declaration, coordinating closely with state emergency services to mitigate the weather’s effects. The lifting of the order signifies a return to normalcy and the cessation of the temporary powers granted under the emergency conditions.

The termination of the State of Emergency allows all governmental bodies and agencies to resume normal operations. This return to standard protocol underscores the state’s recovery from the severe weather impacts that necessitated the emergency measures.

Governor Murphy’s administration will continue to monitor recovery efforts and provide support to areas affected by last week’s severe weather.
