TRENTON, NJ – Sources in Trenton today said a petition has been filed with the state to attempt another recall of Governor Phil Murphy and this time, the rules will be different. If a successful recall petition is launched, there is good news and bad news. First the bad news. The recall committee will only have one month to get 1.7 million signatures. The initial recall fell short by several hundred thousand signatures in 2019.
The good news is, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this recall can be done electronically and online, so the committee can use social media, email, texts and other online methods to promote and share the petition link to be signed.
At this time, we’re not able to say who is running the new effort, but it will knock your socks off!
The last recall effort was essentially a problem of too many cooks in the kitchen and too much red tape to ever get accomplished. That recall period expired before organizers could collect and deliver all of the signed petitions from hundreds of signature gatherers statewide.
If the new recall can get the 1.7 million digital signatures by January 27th, Murphy can be removed from office through a special election held this coming April.
